WHAT WE DO AT THE FAMILY LAW CLINIC

Low - income individuals receive direct legal representation and/or legal advice in family law and related issues such as abuse and harassment prevention

VOLUNTEER ATTORNEY INFORMATION

Volunteers benefit professionally by:

  • Having access to free legal trainings
  • Gaining valuable experience
  • Fulfilling your pro bono professional duty
  • Knowing you made a difference

We support our volunteers with:

  • Malpractice insurance
  • Mentors
  • Use of our offices to meet with the clients
  • Interpreters and translators

We have a modern and simple sign - up process for our Fenton Clinic volunteers, where volunteers have more flexibility. We have posted all volunteer opportunities on the online calendar, making it easy for volunteers to choose a schedule that works for them. A volunteer may choose to help at the clinic for an hour, 2 hours, half day, full day, weekly, monthly, etc. Volunteer Attorneys may also choose to take a specific case to work on.

We strongly encourage volunteers to take the Limited Assistance Representation Training by clicking on the links below for more information.
